Recommended Viewing: Ben X

Ben XHello collegues… I’ve just seen the Belgian movie “Ben X” and I really recommend it to all of you. I’d especially show it to sts. It’s a movie about a boy with Asperger’s who is bullied at school and considers suicide… The only place where he feels he can be himself is in an online game called Archlord. The movie is based on a true story.

Personally, I really connected with Ben’s character, I had never been able to put myself in the head of someone with Asperger’s Syndrome. I think it’s wonderful to be able to see it from their perspective and realise that most of us have also felt that way at some time too.

The movie is not in English, but you could get a copy with English subtitles. Mostly, I recommend it on its educational value. In a time when bullying is reaching an all-time high and newer levels of aggression, a movie like this could really make a difference in some young person’s life.

I hope someone else sees it too!

Great movie! Hope you watch it… More info on the movie here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_X

ESL Tests and Examinations Defined

So I asked around only to see that THERE ARE A LOT OF DIFFERENT EXAMS! Unfortunately it seems that we as chilean professionals are asked to meet some of these standards, but most of us (starting with myself) don’t really know what it’s all about so..  I thought i’d post this.

This is such a good question, and such a hard one to answer because teachers all over the globe seem to have the same insecurities and difficulties when facing the issue but teaching pronunciation isn’t what it used to be and today there are so many more approaches you can take!
